Custom Master Closet Built ins

We built custom master closet built ins!  We used many of the techniques, tips and tricks shown on the Sawdust Girl website and wanted to thank you for the great resource for building built ins.

We built the drawers using the drawer tutorial, cut the plywood using the styrofoam under the sheet to save the table and help guide the kreg jig, and installed the drawer glides using the jig technique.

It was alot of work, and took us about a month, but without these tips and tricks it would have taken alot longer, especially with 18 drawers!

This is a tad personal so if you don’t want to share, I understand. 🙂 I would love to have my Brother in Law attempt this (he refinishes houses). What was your estimated costs for a project this size? Great job!

    looks great Jim. well done.

That is absolutely gorgeous. Did I spy a washer/dryer hookup in the closet in the video? If I did, that is pure genius and I want one. Now.

Thanks for the kind comments. Yes it is a washer / dryer hookup in the closet. Looking forward to getting them in there, but will also be building a custom stand / drawer / drying rack for them.

In materials alone (hardwood plywood @ $50/sheet, trim, paint, drawer glides, hardware) we spent about $1750. This doesn’t include the router and router bits we bought for this project or the kreg jig, or circular saw. Of course it doesn’t include labor either.

Dimensions: The long wall is 14′ 8″, 24″ deep. The adjacent drawer section is 4′ long, 15″ deep and the adjacent shoe rack on the other end is 2′ long, 15″ deep. The long wall consists of (1) 4′ long section, (1) 3′ long section and (3) 2′ 6″ long sections.

    Jim,

Great job! I am definitely moving this up on my list. I got the bug from Sandra’s closet project and been wanting to do mine for months now. Your closet is closer to my size so it gives me a better idea how to size it.

BTW, how high is your ceiling in this closet?
